2003 Meron Primitivo Salento, Awful in a bottle!!!

I've tasted worse wines............come to think of it, no I haven't. This one is just awful. I am such a fan of Puglia and especially of the primitivo grape, the alleged grandfather of the modern American Zinfandel, that I looked forward to trying this one. Wines like A-Mano and others from that region make Puglia one of the sleeper wine growing regions in Europe. The 2003 Meron Primitivo Salento is a bad wine. 55 points and a definite pass even at 6.50 a bottle. If I had to choose between this wine and Ripple, I'd go with the Ripple hands down.
